I'm really grateful for Birnie Plumbing. Our 100 year old house has had plumbing issues since the day we moved in. We called Birnie on Christmas Eve when our sinks were backing up into our shower. Eric showed up and quickly snaked the drain for us and got us going for the holidays. He warned us that our original cast iron was calcified, would clog up again and need to be replaced. Well a month and half later the shower was backing up again, we called Birnie again and the next day Harrison and Jacob showed up and assessed the job. It was not an easy job as the main stack is in a 2ft high dirt crawl space but they did an amazing job, were clean, polite and knowledgeable. With plumbers like Eric, Harrison and Jacob I can see why Birnie plumbing has been around for over 100 years.

If you need ANY plumbing done, do not bother getting any other quotes! Birnie’s Plumbing & Drains is exceptional. Kudoes to Gerry & Rob for diagnosing the problem and Tim & Dylon for repairing it. Kyle was great in solving our kitchen drain leaking problem. He was at our home very quickly assessed the problem and made two options for us to consider. After selecting the preferred option the work was done in a timely basis. After the work was completed the work area was cleaned probably better than when he started. They identified the fix for the issue and provided options. The fix was resolved. Both Techs were friendly, professional, clean and answered questions I had. **Incredible 100 Star Review Here!!!!** We constantly had our drain backing up in the basement around our laundry. We were beyond stressed water and toilet paper around our drain. We called Birnie and we were a little worried they wouldn't show at first as they are so busy and they came to our rescue like heros. Eric came up with 4 package options for us to choose from. I was absolutely blown away of his knowledge in sewage and drains. He answered every question we had. Jamie even got on his knees to clean the tissue mess around the drain so I could get to my laundry and my cat could get to his litter. They solved the issue quick and their price was in market value and affordable. They went beyond and above to help us. I will get the membership and will be a repeat customer for life. Birnie plumbing and drains have been a blessing to find. I have had Mike come to my home a few times now, cant say enough about how good service he provides. Professional work, clean and always gives you the best solution for your plumbing needs.

Charlie arrived about 10am and finished at 6pm. There were a few different jobs to do. He was very knowledgeable, professional and the workmanship was excellent. He explained what he was doing and did a thorough job, everything was cleaned up. I would highly recommend Charlie at Birnie Plumbing and Drains to anyone who is looking for a reliable, prompt and experienced plumber.

From the start of calling for an appointment to the end of the job, staff were professional, respectful and courteous. OA booked the appointment and explained their process/procedure beginning with plumber doing an assessment of the work that needed to be done. The day of appointment an eta of 45 minutes phone call came from the OA. Plumber arrived within 20 minutes. After assessing the need he then presented three options of work along with quotes. Well, what a day. I noticed my sump pump was working fine, but when it was bringing the water outside to our drain it was spilling over the pipe. I recently had Thos. Birnie & Sons Plumbing come to my home to perform an inspections and cleaning of the backwater valve system and can say that I was pleased with the services they performed. We experienced a problem with tree roots in our sewer lateral that caused a backup into our basement. Birnie & Sons staff quickly arranged a visit from Jacob and within 2 hours he had the line clean and clear for us. Quick search on the internet after discovering we had an overflow of water in our laundry sink. We called Birnie plumbing and had the best customer service and had a plumber at our door within 3 hours. Jacob was an amazing plumber who quickly identified the issue, gave several options and let us choose the best solution for us. We choose the hydro scrub with high pressure water to unclog the pipes. We also got to see video from the main water area in our house to over 100 feet out to the city drain. Jacob was very polite , knowledgeable and educated us about why and how !! We are happy with the service. Highly recommend this Hamilton based company.

I decided to hire this company due to higher rating, and I can definitely say that this company is really good at their job. Eric B. (technician) was able to determine a belly on the main sewer pipe which is on the city limits upon inspection, which wasn't determine by the previous company I hired 6 months ago. Their video quality is really clear compared to the previous company I hired. Therefore if you're hiring a company to fix your sewer backup issues, this company is highly recommended.

We selected one of the 4 options that were all well explained. Upon completion of the job we were shown the camera footage and their discovery of tree roots in the drainage sewer pipes. Daniel was super helpful, above and beyond diagnosing and fixing the two issues I was having (one which wasn't actually an issue that needed fixing). Demonstrably cleaned up while providing general tips and tricks to maintain drains, as well as discussed other potential issues to look out for and adjacent subjects. Only complaint I would have is that at one point I received three phone calls from three different people within a matter of minutes to progress through the steps needed to get a plumber out to my home. Just seems to be some administrative redundancy, not actually a real issue, so not enough to remove a star from the rating!

My Friday started very poorly. A pipe on my toilet broke and within 10 minutes there was water on all 3 levels of my home. With one call I had someone on the way. I would just like to share an experience we had on New Years Eve of this year with the plumbing company of Bernie Plumbing and Drains. Also known as “STINKY BIRNIE” We awoke on Dec 31 to a back up of sewage in our laundry room basement. You can imagine our despair with the mess that was facing us. We called this company at 10:30am and they put us on an emergency list; and we were so grateful to have Erik and Kyle show up at 4:00pm as we couldn’t use any water in the house. Bathroom included! They handled our concerns with empathy and put our minds at ease right from the very beginning. We hadn’t any idea of how to deal with this mess, and they went right to work assessing the issue and rectifying the problem. Excellent service today from techs Chad and Sam. Had discovered a slow drip-leak in a radiator line, likley poor installation (by another plumber). Chad and Sam diagnosed it quickly and sensibly, discussed options, and replaced the section of pipe same-day (soldered, no shark-bites). Discussed implications and mainteance, answered questions, cleaned up following - the whole thing. Very pleasant interactions, straightfoward and a pleasure to have in the house. Spent all day yesterday with Thos. Birnie Plumbing at my house. Pavel and his assistant installed new waterlines, shut off valves, a vanity and a pair of toilets. They dealt with missing instructions, wrong parts right out of the box, tight quarters and fresh paint. They were friendly, resourceful and genuinely worth every penny I paid. This is not the first time I have used this company, and it will not be the last!

A backed up sewer problem that went from bad to worse, was assessed and fixed beautifully by Thos Birnie and Sons. The initial phone call was responded to immediately (even right after Christmas) and someone was at my house a few hours later. Even on a busy day, their dispatch called me and kept me updated with an arrival time. Mike came and assessed the severity of the problem, before calling in some backup for day 2 and 3. Mike and Jacob worked incredibly hard to get the drain unclogged. It was a tough and dirty job, and they never complained once. They explained everything to me thoroughly, and handled each aspect of the job with care and professionalism. I was impressed at how clean everything was throughout the job. Harrison, the installer, came on day 3. I was not expecting to have the install job done so fast as the need for an installation was only determined at the end of day 2. But sure enough, Harrison was there first thing the next day. He explained everything very well and worked hard and efficiently right through the day. I was not able to stay home for the completion of the job, but when I returned home later that night, I came home to a very clean bathroom and work area, and it was exactly how we had agreed. I have never been so happily surprised with a contractor in my life. What I really liked about this company was the professionalism, cleanliness, and that no extras were billed without consent. It really felt like they were doing everything they could to keep the cost down, and they were very understanding of my situation. I cant recommend this company enough. Service was amazing right from initial after hours call to completion of the job. Technician arrived on time, he assessed and then quoted the job and completed the job as discussed. He gave us pictures, a video of the pipe and completed invoicing on site as discussed. He set up plans for future thoughts around refurbishing this 50 year old pipe. In summary they scored 10/10. We had several plumbing issues that needed repair and / or upgrading and a challenging kitchen sink venting issue. The 100 foot pipe to to the road and pipes under the house were successfully examined with a video camera by Colin on the first day. On the second day, Harrison successfully upgraded several valves, repaired 2 pop up bathroom stoppers, and added a vent under the kitchen sink. Both sinks had the pipes reconfigured. Harrison returned with Gerry a third time to provide an estimate to improve the kitchen drainage and to provide a quote for next steps. In the process they rescoped the pipes under the home and the outside cleanout for free because the first video by Colin had not been uploaded successfully. The team was very knowledgeable and hard working. It was expensive to complete all of these tasks but I was impressed with the fact that there was no charge for the third visit to rescope the pipes and to provide an estimate. Thanks so much.

I was able to call right away, their operators picked up and scheduled a call back for first thing in the morning. They called me back at 8:40, and sent a guy at 9:30. Over the 25+ years that we have lived in our house we have had many repair/service technicians come to our home. Some have been good; some have been average. So relieved my DIY bathroom reno wasn't ruined by my botched shower instal. Charlie saved my tile wall, which I was convinced would have to be breeched, by creating space on the other side to access the faulty connections. It wasn't easy to work in that area, but he outlined a plan and executed it, so now I have full confidence the valve is connected securely, and the faucet and shower function perfectly. Charlie kept me informed of the steps and options along the way. As a bonus he showed me why the vanity sink was draining so slowly and how to remedy it. The one year labour warranty gives extra peace of mind, but I am very impressed with the workmanship and how good the new copper looks. Well worth calling in a pro to make it right. It wasn't an emergency, but I got a prompt reply and next day service on this job. Very highly recommended.

Called early on a Friday morning expecting to not get service but to my surprise I was told that they would be able to help me with my completely clogged drain that day. A couple of hours later Mike the plumber came inspected the job and gave me a quote with options on how I wanted to proceed, also I was given the opportunity to decline service at no cost at all.. A very good experience indeed, this being a pleasant surprise after our past encounters with some other contractors: on time, extremely thorough, and the best clean up after a messy job (we had a sewer back-up issue, so needed the sewage lines cleared and flushed) I've experienced in a very long while. Quick reaction, no fee for coming out or diagnosing the problem, clear lump-sum upfront pricing, credit cards accepted, work done the same day, all explanations given, and we felt welcome to watch the process every step of the way (it took a few hours so we did not, or not all of it). Also received all the photographs and videos of the lines taken (there's some watching material for those long winter evenings). Very much recommended!

We worked with Charlie of Birnie Plumbing and Drains of Hamilton on an absolute myriad of things yesterday (leaks, faucets not working, various things not to code, repairing someone else's shoddy work, etc), and I honestly can't say enough good things about both Charlie and the service he provided. Charlie took the time to explain what and why with every fix suggestion, and broke everything down in a way that both my wife and I understood the importance or lack thereof (as in - you'll probably be fine with thing x, but I would want to keep an eye on it). We never felt upsold, and we were left feeling that our home, in general, was in a much better spot thanks to the time and effort Charlie put in. I have seen comments about Birnie's price, but, I would like you (the potential customer) to keep two things in mind: 1. You can always just say no to a service. If you don't want to pay $XX.XX then you can say "No thank you, please don't do that work" (really not hard to do). 2. You get what you pay for. It's as simple as that. I will always be willing to pay a premium for what I know is tremendous work / service, than try to save money with a company that has a mid to low reputation.

It took awhile to get an appointment because it wasn't an emergency, but Pavel showed up on time, was friendly, and immediately put me at ease. They came in, looked over the issues we had, then brought to our attention other issues we did not know about, gave me a quote, and did all the work in under 4 hours. We had quite a bit of set backs along the way due to how our house was built, it wasn’t a straightforward job. They never stopped and always communicated any roadblocks along the way. I had a cracked pipe connection that was leaking water into my basement. After a week of looking for it I finally found where the leak was coming from. It was in the worse area for anyone to work in and I thought I was going to have to have part of my basement dug up to get to it. At 8.00 am the next morning I called Birnie and Sons to get help. I was concerned I was going to have to wait a few days for someone out to look at it. At 10.47am that morning I got a call from the Birnie office to let me know that a service representative was on his way and would uld be at my door in about 30 minutes. At 11.46am he was at my door. I then had the pleasure to meet Tim who inspected my problem and then explained how he proposed to repair it without having to break up the concrete. Tim took the time to discuss every step of the repair and assured me that the leak would be fixed. When the job was completed he carefully tested all the joints for any leakage or problems. When he was satisfied that everything was OK was he then did a great clean up job. If you have a water problem, I can highly recommend Tim and Birnie and Sons to look after you. Thank you Tim.

We have a recurring problem of roots growing into our clay sewage line, which requires snaking the line every 1-2 years. This time, the first guy who came did not manage to solve the problem. We required new faucets for our washer since the old hoses were corroded on. We went over the work to be done and we’re given an estimate for the service that was provided The estimate was very fair and reasonable Charlie the installer replaced the faucets and secured the washer drain hose to the laundry tub so it would not fly out when the washer drains. He installed a board against the outside wall to keep the copper pipes from touching the cold wall. He also hooked up the dryer for us. Kitchen sink was completely blocked at my parents’ house and I only realized this Friday evening. I called up Birnie and they had Robert come out Saturday morning and got the problem fixed. Robert was excellent in his communication and timeliness, and my elderly parents really appreciated his help. Charlie was well mannered and pleasant to talk to. He provided detailed options to clean and unplug the kitchen drain. He laid a towel to catch water under the sink and a large floor mat to keep tools and debris off of the hardwood floor. He answered all my questions thoroughly as he worked After removing cleaning tool from drain (28') he showed evidence of material which had plugged the drain. Filled sink with water and flushed through drain with ease. Used orange degreaser with the last flush to remove grease residue from piping. All in all great service and experience.

Tyler was great! He was able to clear a blockage in our sewer lateral and fix the stuck backflow valve. I was able to take a shower and get to my sister’s birthday party on time! We very much appreciate that they were able to get Tyler out to our house first thing on a Saturday morning when I called late Friday afternoon. They also offered a number of different options at different price points for us to choose from. I have had Birnie & Sons Ltd twice to my house in the last 10 years. The first time was an emergency when our sewer collapsed under our house. They were amazing with us in this extremely stressful situation. They assured us everything will be alright and they’d have us all fixed up and back to normal as soon as possible. Their employees are very professional and extremely accommodating. They are polite and are quick to answer any questions you may have. We just had them back to change our full sewer pipe from clay to plastic , as well as our water line & main from lead to copper. It was a huge job that could have been extremely messy but everything was contained so well. They put plywood down to protect areas of property from all of the dirt & rock. We live close to the escarpment where there is mostly rock under us and they worked hard to break through it to make sure this job was completed. It wasn’t easy and we are so very thankful to Birnie’s as all of the other companies never even phoned us back due to where we live. The shale causes so many problems and is known for breaking equipment so most companies do not want to do any sort of digging around here. Birnie’s employees are extremely hard workers. We don’t see a lot of that these days unfortunately. I highly recommend Birnie’s for any and all of your plumbing needs. They are friendly and have reliable hardworking employees that have compassion in an emergency situation and a ton of knowledge about all that needs to be done. Because we have had them to our home twice for huge jobs .. we know how amazing they are. Don’t waste your time calling another company. If you need a plumber .. Birnie’s is the best.

Very helpful people, great team. Birnie Plumbing saved us over 20 thousand dollars by tracking down the root of the problem and repairing the section of sewer line that had an issue, while others wanted to redo the entire line. Their team did excellent work, dug carefully around gas, water and power lines to replace a section of the sewer line. They took care of all the permits, locates and had the city inspection done. ll was done by 4 in the afternoon, leaving the area as it was before. Great work. The next day they called us with their findings and discussion they had with the inspector about the sewer line under the road. That might still have issues. Birnie send their findings over to public works and told us to follow up with them to prevent further issues in the future. Which we will, thank you for the detailed report.

Great service. The plumber explained everything really well, helped to save us some money, and did the needed repairs immediately. The service is not cheap, but for plumbing and electricity “do it yourself” just does not cut it for me, as it often causes greater damage along the way. I appreciated that the customer service was friendly, knowledgeable, prompt and super-well organized. These days, it’s not easy to find reliable contractors who actually call you back and offer prompt service - so I can only wholeheartedly recommend this plumbing company! Also, the company gives free quotes; this is a great plus as I have also called another company that wanted to charge me 99 CAD just for looking at the problem and give a quote.

A good experience. A quote was given before the work was performed and all of the work was explained. As the work was being done an explanation of what was being done was given as well. The project was completed in a timely manner, checked and then the area where the work was done was cleaned up. All of the old parts were taken away. The staff was professional and respected the property.

Just moved into my new house and the bathroom sink was clogged. So I tried clearing it by pouring in Drano then used a sink snake but could not get it cleared. That's when I called in 5Stinky and they sent Robert and his assistant. Thorough professionals and gentlemen too. They cleared the debris from the pipe in no time and now the sink is draining without any problem. I would definitely recommend them without blinking an eye for drain cleaning.

Called them to come and assess my weeping title that had a root blocking the drain. Colin arrived on time. Showed him where the problem was. He scoped the drain with a HD camera. Determined what the problem was and gave options to try and clear drain. Cost was discussed before work was started. Colin also discussed the problems that could arise trying to cut the root. He also was very upfront and made no concrete promise that drain could be fully cleared. To do the job was totally my decision. Colin cleaned the drain as much as he could until the root was just to thick to penetrate. But he did get the drain flowing much better. We went outside side and found where the drain is plugged with a locator. Now the rest is up to me and now I know exactly where I have to dig. Will definitely use this company again if required in the future. 5 stars for sure. In a long run their service saved thousands from basement getting flooded.

February 18, 2022 Today we had our sub pump repaired after two flooding in our basement. First of all Janine was amazing she called first thing in the morning to see how we made out during the night with the flood and bailing out the waters. Janine sent over Charlie and was totally awesome he worked on the pump gave us some insight and he took the time to do a great job. I recently called for a blockage in my main sewer line. They were quick to respond and very accommodating in terms of setting up a service time. He installed a replacement dishwasher and corrected plumbing issues that was previously incorrectly done to have proper drainage for the dishwasher and the sink. As a new homeowner I would recommend and definitely use their services again. Hopefully not but if we need to these are the people you want in your home. I had quite a large blockage in my drain coming down from the kitchen sink. It was not an easy job to clear it and extended into a second visit. However I am very pleased with the outcome. However, I can edit my previous review to comment on the amazing service we received from Pavel today. We were having three new bathroom faucets installed, a tub and shower faucet set installed and a bath tub waste and overflow replaced. From the moment he arrived we were impressed with Pavel's professionalism. He reviewed what we need to be done, then provided us a detailed "Summary of Findings" and and estimate. This doesn't happen at all places, but the estimate is what you pay. Regardless if it takes longer than anticipated to complete. He thought it would take 6 hours but he ran into some unforeseen issues. He was here until almost 7pm this evening. He didn't want to leave until everything was perfect! We've always had exemplary service from T.R. Birnie & Sons ~ from all the technicians that have provided service. However, if we need more work done, we'll check first to see if Pavel is available. I'm attaching the pretty pictures, but also some of the behind the scenes work that took place. ( I tried to upload pics but I don't think it worked. Trust me the pretty is pretty, but sometimes it's the things that you can't see that are most important. I've contacted them three times and not only have we not received service, I am still awaiting a call back that I was supposed to get at about noon today. This is the second time we've required their services and they have not responded. So, as we did last time, we called T.R. Birnie & Sons and have received exemplary service. Daniel was professional, courteous, explained everything, identified and fixed the problem promptly. The service the last time we used them was amazing as well. We'll be cancelling our contract with that other company (as we should have done last time they disappointed us) and will be using Thos. R. Birnie & Sons exclusively in the future. The technicians were extremely professional. From wearing masks and shoe covers to explaining each step of the process they were thorough. Cleaned the drain clog, then tested everything out, then showed me a camera view of the pipes all the way to the street (over 50 feet away). When they finished everything was cleaned up and I felt satisfied in every step of the way. You always want things as cheap as possible however when they left I felt I got fair value for what I had paid.

Marc did an excellent job of addressing the issue I had with the toilet in my main bathroom. Before starting the work, we discussed different options and he explained everything in detail. He also provided several quotes. He did a plumbing camera inspection to ensure there were no problems in the sewer line and also installed a new toilet. He is very knowledgeable, a great communicator and detail oriented with his paperwork. You won’t be disappointed when you work with Marc!

Great job installing our garage fawcett with indoor shut off valve. Very difficult area to get to in the basement rafters and they improved on the builders installation greatly. Very happy with the work and speed with which it was completed.

We cannot say enough great things about Jason. He did a great job replacing our clay pipes with PVC pipes, with his workmates, Tom and Pat. The weather conditions they worked under were not pleasant at all. It was cold, and they were covered in mud , but never complained. All the men that worked here were always smiling and always friendly. They are very hardworking men under less then ideal conditions. We read the reviews ahead of time and they almost sounded to good to be true. Well, we are here to say those reviews are true as well as is this one. Everyone we were in contact with at Thos. R. Jeff and Kellholm both gave me great service and I was very appreciative of all of the information they gave me. Following the job done by Jeff, I can say that Jeff gave me outstanding service that went above and beyond the call of duty. He supplied a missing part of my kitchen faucet and did a fantastic job replacing all of my house's old galvanized plumbing pipes throughout the basement. I highly recommend Jeff; I hope that Thos R. They helped me out of a very bad frozen pipes situation. Poor guy was under my house in the very tight crawlspace for hours in frigid sub zero weather for hours without a complaint. Got my water running again and gave me information on how to avoid this problem in the future. On top of it all there was a problem with my toilet and after being on site for 6 hours he took the time to fix it before he left. Excellent service. Above and beyond. I would highly recommend this company.

Kyle R. examined our drain, asked if he could use a 2 X 4 that was nearby, poked it into the drain hole and 'whoosh' - 'Drain Cleared' he stated. I was shocked at how simple the operation was, and how deep the drain went into the ground below the cellar floor. Of course, my question was 'what is the charge?' - the answer ..... Purchased a Kinetico water softener and RO system through Costco. Thos R Birnie & Sons were the Kinetico dealer that installed the system. There was a little confusion in the initial visit but Costco, Kinetico and Thos R. Birnie & Sons were great in identifying the problem and getting them to my house for the initial visit. Roy Birnie came out to check out my house and explain the benefits of the Kinetico system. As I've had an older system in my previous house, I didn't really have to be sold on it. Roy was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I had asked them to install the RO unit in the basement instead of the recommended location of under the sink, they went out of their way of installing larger tubing to account for the additional distance from the faucet in the kitchen. John and Roy actually came out to do the install and they were very thorough in checking their work. There was an issue with the holding tank, I'm sure it was a product issue and not an installation one, but they came back right away to get things sorted out. Great work, great to deal with, I would absolutely call them back for plumbing work and absolutely recommend them to others I know. Thanks Roy and John.

Kellholm came out to help me diagnose a problem with the shower drain in my basement bathroom. He was extremely helpful in explaining how the problem needed to be addressed and used plain language to explain it to me clearly. He took the extra step of checking the drain pipes with the camera, which revealed a larger problem outside of the house, but better to know now than when poop is floating in my house. In conversation during his visit, it was clear that Kellholm has more than 1 year of experience, which is what the email notification I got before he came here said. He actually said he's been with this company for several years, in addition to previous experience with the city and other private companies. So don't worry, Kellholm is no rookie! You're in good hands with him.

Waiting on a couple other places for pricing to compare, but if all is the same then I would go with the company Kyle works for. I own a house in Hamilton which is rented out to a family. Their daughter had a bath an water went through the light fixture in the kitchen below. I figured it was probably a problem with the overflow drain and I called this company as I'd seen their trucks around and figured they'd be reliable. I called and spoke to a woman on a Thursday and she told me they wouldn't be able to get to the house before the following Tuesday? This seemed like a long wait but it wasn't an emergency so i agreed to that. I called Tuesday to confirm they were coming and was told the appointment would be for the next day. I arranged for the tenant to be home and she waited without a call or update, as did I. I called them and was told they couldn't make it out until the next day now. This was a full week after I called. The next day Robert came but the water was shut off so he couldn't actually do the work anyway but told me the total cost for the repair (if it was the overflow) would be in the neighborhood of $1000!!!! It would be 175 bucks just to cut a hole in the drywall behind the drain to look at it. I could go on but suffice it to say I found a licensed plumber who charges less than 25% of this company's prices and was available to do the work the next day.

Callum attended and gave a very thorough analysis of what is needed to replace my sewer line. He ran a camera through the sewer line, a water detector to mark off the location where the pipes are and a thorough breakdown of his report. Very pleased with his service.

After contacting Thomas R Birnie & Sons online. I received a phone call Monday morning informing me Jeff would be here within 30 mins. When he arrived he looked at our toilet that had been leaking, our water shut off was seized both at the tank and main. He was well prepared and very knowledgeable. He gave us a quote for the job, plus a few others that we had asked him about. When the jobs were done he cleaned up and explained everything. The float in my toilet was not shutting off and was causing my toilet to continue to run after each flush. In days gone by you could just adjust the float. My 5 year old top of the line, low water level system required a plumber. I called Thomas R Birnie & Sons Ltd. The appointment was set, they showed up when they said they would. had the replacement part in his truck, did the work and was in and out in less than 1/2 hour. He also fixed a minor broken screw on a tap (no charge) while he was here. Thank you so much back in good running order.

Thos.R.Birinie & Sons replaced my sewer lateral pipe and my lead pipe in my house. From the get go, they were very prompt with returning my call, as this was an emergency. While other contractors were too busy due to the time of year, they were able to call me back, set up a time for the estimate and perform the required work at a time to fit my schedule. The contractors performing the work were Tom and Patrick. All work areas outside were covered with plywood to protect my front lawn and driveway from any extensive damage. The interior floors and stairs were also covered with rubber sheets. Tom and Pat were very knowledgeable about all things plumbing, and were able to answer all my questions. Upon completion Tom took the time to inspect all pipes for leakage as well as taps for water pressure. He even checked my toilet and helped clean out some of the debris in float in the back of my toilet which often results from working on water pipes, causing the toilet to run. When cleaning up sewer lateral pipe trench it was filled in with gravel, original soil and another big layer of gravel,making the area ready for repaving. Front lawn soil was also filled in, ready for lawn replacement in the small area which was dug up. Very happy with this company and would recommend them to those requiring major plumbing work on their home.

New to Dundas we relied upon ratings and reviews to choose Thomas Birnie to install new toilets and to have as plumbers if we have future problems. Their office was excellent at taking our call and quickly arranging for JEFF to come within a day or so. There were two confirming calls from the office and Jeff was on time and ready to state a flat price and to get going. Within two hours he had picked up the toilets, installed them, and hauled away the old. In all he gave a sense of competence and was pleasant. He cleaned up both areas. No doubt we would use Birnie again and no doubt we would wait for Jeff to be assigned the job. Now... an electrician and a handyman.....

We own a century home Hamilton with the original tile sewer line. The sewer line was never cleaned. Needless to say things caught up to us or should I say ‘backed up on us’. Unfortunately I had to have extensive sewer repair done. After Matthew and Josh cleaned the line Kellholm came out to explain what repairs were need to the old line. It was decided that using a liner in our existing sewer instead of replacing the complete sewer line was the best way to go. Patrick and Josh came in to install the liner followed up by Jason for the final inspection. These guys took the time explained every step of the process. Our ancient water heater sprung a leak and we called Thos. R. Birnie & Sons to ask about purchase and installation of a new one. To be honest, they were my second call. Home Depot said it would be 4 days to get a new water heater installed and they could not tell me what it would cost. I called Birnie because of their reputation and fun logo! The receptionist (whose name I forget...sorry!) was cheery and helpful. She explained the process to me and arranged to have a technician come out the next morning. Jeff called about 45 minutes before his scheduled arrival time to confirm the appointment and to say he would arrive in about 40 minutes. It was exactly 40 minutes when he was at our door! He examined the tank and confirmed it should be replaced. He then left, returned with the new heater and installed it all in the same morning. He took the time to explain what he was doing each step of the way and clearly knew his stuff. My laundry room was cleaner when he left than when he arrived! I would not hesitate to call them again.
